4. Memphis, Tennessee
It has been said that Memphis’ high crime rate is, what it is due to the high poverty level in the city, which is about 28%. The number of murders was recorded at 124, along with 7,200 aggravated assaults reported, 366 arsons and 40,000 property crimes. Murders did increase by 7%, although the aggravated assaults and violent rapes have decreased in number by 4%. The city has tried to make a lot of improvements since about 2006 and leading city officials think they’re on the right track.
