The city of Indianapolis out in the mid-west, is a beautiful city, yet it is one of the most dangerous cities in the US with high crime rates in both property and violent crimes. How does Indianapolis compare to the state’s crime averages, and the US national averages? There were a reported 11,162 violent crimes reported in Indianapolis and 42,,036 property crimes. At the time of the reporting, Indianapolis registered at 7.63 percentage of crimes per 1,000 people as compared to the US, national average of 2.38. This is a big difference between the national average and Indianapolis’ average and city officials are trying to curve the higher than average crime rates, but haven’t gotten a handle on it yet. It continues to be a high crime city.
