The 20 Most Dangerous Cities in the United States

9. Oakland, California

There is a violent crime rate of 163 crimes per 100,000 and overall crime rates have been higher in 2016. Even though African-Americans comprise of a lower number of residents in the city, they are highly represented in the number of murders in their neighborhoods. One of things that is concerning to officials who monitor crime rate statistics, is that despite the higher numbers of crime in Oakland, Oakland is not equipped with the number of policemen that it needs to be. There are fewer officers than crime rates show there should be, which may be one reason why the city cannot get the crime better under control.
