The Former Home of Tiger Woods in Windermere, FL
Arguably one of the best golfers of all time, Tiger Woods likes to live where he can play. Woods is known to own a couple of houses in Florida—one in Jupiter Island and one in Windermere. Woods used to live in one of Windermere’s gated communities with his wife until they got divorced in 2010.
Woods’ former Windermere mansion was listed for sale for $5.6 million by James Mitchell under Keller Williams Winter Park. Windermere is a small town of roughly 2,400 residents in Orange County, Central Florida. Windermere was first established as a residential community in 1889.
The town annexed a couple of wealthy subdivisions in 2007 including Isleworth, where Woods’ former home was located. Here’s a closer look into Tiger Woods’ incredible former mansion.
Located in Isleworth’s gated community, the home is a two-storey mansion that’s about 7,940 square feet in size. The house overlooks Lake Islworth and has a total of 7 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. It features a state-of-the-art kitchen and other specialty rooms. It also has a pool and a guesthouse.
The exterior of the house has a contemporary curb appeal that follows through to the interior. The large brick-paved driveway leads to a 3-car garage. Upon walking through the front doors, you’ll be led into the large open foyer.
From the foyer, you’ll see the open floor layout of the first living space. They style is beach contemporary that’s common with Florida-style living. There’s a seating area that features modern brown leather seats.
Tall ceilings and architectural details such as arches and niches accentuate the space. The tall drapery adds drama to an otherwise simplistic room. Across the seating area is the open dining room that features seating for 8.
All throughout the room, the browns and tans are contrasted by varying hues of blue and green that denotes both the ocean and the sky. The combination of wood and marble on the flooring is a mark of elegance and style. Because of tall windows on all sides, the Florida sunlight beams through this great room with ease. The end result is a room that’s bright, airy, and inviting.
On the other side of this space is the main living area. Here you’ll find another open floor plan that encompasses the kitchen, the family room, and the breakfast nook. Wooden flooring spans the entire space and is complemented by the wooden ceilings.
In fact, wooden themes are spread throughout the entire home. The family room features a large beige sectional sofa that sits across the fireplace. Much like the great room, this family room gets a tremendous amount of light from the large windows that pretty much cover the entire wall on one side.
Next to the family room is the modern gourmet kitchen. This kitchen is made for professionals. It is spacious and well lit with modern appliances. The traditional cream cabinets provide a stunning contrast against all the wood in the room and the beautiful granite countertops.
The backsplash stands out, especially by the stove—where we see arched details yet again. There’s a two-level island in the center of the kitchen that features an eating space with bar stools.
Across from the kitchen is the breakfast nook, a simple space featuring furniture that match the rest of the room. There are also wide windows just by the breakfast nook that provides a subtle light during the day and some views of the backyard as well.
Out of the 8 bedrooms in this house, the master bedroom is likely the best. It has contemporary furnishings. We see the wooden floors here again, but this time amazing wooden beams on the ceiling complement the floors.
Tall windows and glass French doors give a view of the backyard as well as access to it. There’s a bay window that serves as a sitting area in the room. The master bedroom provides access to the master bathroom walk-in closet as well.
The full master bath has a separate shower and tub. The stunning marble features and countertops pop up against the light sea foam color of the walls. The theme continues on to the closet, where we first glimpse the use of light-colored wood. The spacious walk-in space is a dream with built in wooden shelves and even an island in the center of the room.
The other specialty rooms include a game room and a home theater. The game room features a ping-pong table and a few classic arcade games. There’s a wet bar on one side of this room. The home theater is another spacious room that features two levels of seating across from a wide projector screen.
The backyard features a simple mid-sized pool and a Jacuzzi. You’ll enjoy views of the lake while relaxing in this area. The backyard is mostly paved, and it sits right next to a screened-in space right against the house. There’s also access to a private lake dock that comes with a wooden ceiling and walkway. This walkway even has enough space for seating, where you can enjoy the views of the lake even more.
Woods also owned another property in Windermere that’s connected to the Butler Chain of Lakes in Isleworth. This 2,090 square foot golf villa property features three bedrooms and three bathrooms on Lake Louise—just a few minutes away from the mansion.
Woods reportedly sold the Windermere mansion to Bubba Watson in 2013 for a couple of millions of dollars, and Watson supposedly gutted the house to his liking. He has since also passed ownership as he put the house back on the market in 2016.
Today, the house is yet again back on the market waiting for the next buyer. The Windermere house has definitely seen its fair share of golf controversy and history, but all of that just adds character to an already beautiful property.
