20 Gorgeous Living Rooms with Mirrors
A lot of your time is spent in the living room, relaxing, catching up with family, entertaining friends, or just watching your favorite show on your TV. It’s most often the room where you feel most comfortable and you want it to reflect how you live and feel.
Speaking of reflecting, using mirrors in your living room is one way to reflect many things in your living room, from its beauty, to light, to space, which can help increase the look and feel of the room.
Mirrors are very versatile in a decorating theme. They fit into any style, and you can use any size mirror, or choose from simple to elaborate mirrors. If you love the way mirrors look in a living room setting, here are some ideas for how to use them in your decorating theme.
Use a mirror to fill an empty wall
Sometimes you just don’t know what to do with one particular wall in your living room. Sometimes a living room is designed with negative space, or a wall that just doesn’t work with any of your furniture pieces or other ideas.
It may leave you questioning what you can do to fill the space or cover the emptiness. A mirror is a great way to cover a lonely wall that would otherwise look awkward or bare.
A narrow wall space is a great place to use a longer mirror to add height to the wall and cover more of the emptiness. A wide space of wall can hold a much larger mirror, or try hanging three or four decorative square mirrors in a horizontal line across the wall. To create a bolder focal point, an artsy sunburst-shaped mirror or other unique decorative mirror, can really make the wall pop.
Create a focal point
If your living room is lacking in a main focal point for the room, create one by using a mirror to draw the eye in when you walk in the room. A large decorative mirror over the sofa is one option for creating a focal point. You can also hang a mirror over a fireplace to make it the central focal point, or stand a couple of oversized floor-standing mirrors against the wall on either side of it so create a wow factor.
Brighten a dark room
If your living room lacks in the natural light area, mirrors are a great way to brighten a dark room. Hang a mirror on a wall adjacent to a window to help reflect its light. A full length mirror between two windows helps to spread light around a room, and enhances a more relaxed feel to the space. A large mirror hanging over the sofa that sits opposite a window, reflects natural light all through a living room and gives it a warmer, more welcoming appeal.
