Guillermo del Toro’s Former Agoura Hills Home

Guillermo del Toro may not be a name that’s at the top of your mind, but you may recognize some of this Mexican director’s films, like Hellboy, Pacific Rim, or his Academy Award-winning film, The Shape of Water. The director first hit the big screen in 1993 with his film, Cronos, and from there, he has steadily made a name for himself in the film industry, and so much, that he was able to afford himself one of the most elite homes and lots in his neighborhood in Agoura Hills, which he first purchased for $1.6 million in 2010, and recently sold for $2.1. That’s not too shabby of a return on this exquisite 1985 mansion that sits on a beautiful lot at the end of a cul-de-sac in the neighborhood. The 5700 square foot home is loaded with elegant features, inside and out, starting with the spectacular courtyard that’s surrounded by meticulously landscaped gardens on either side, and a sparkling blue swimming pool and spa.

Inside, some of the most stunning features include, an elegant grand foyer, a large kitchen decked out in classy elements, fireplaces in multiple rooms, a grand piano in the formal living room, a spacious master bedroom, large enough for a large bed and a cozy fireplace, and large master bath with an elegant tub situated near a window with gorgeous views. If you want to see inside this movie mogul’s mansion, then keep scrolling. We have photos of Guillermo del Toro’s Former Agoura Hills Home.

The front of the home boasts elegance from all around. Immaculate, mature landscape and a red brick-lined sidewalk and steps lead you up to the front door of this spectacular home. Large windows don the front of the home that immediately let you know how bright and cheery it will be inside.

Behind the home is a stone-lined swimming pool with beautiful curves and edges. Whether you’re swimming in the crystal blue waters or relaxing under the quaint gazebo, you get to take in the spectacular views all around. Mature landscape was designed in layers around the yard to add levels of beautiful views. If you want to really kick back and enjoy your surroundings, kick back in the adjacent spa with your  cocktail and watch the sun slip behind the hills off in the distance.

The large master bedroom is open and spacious. The high trey ceiling adds even more visual square footage to the room, which is already large enough to hold a large kin slay bed and multiple other pieces of furniture without cramping anyone’s style. A round area rug is situated in the middle of the room with a small table – perfect for sipping a night time cup of tea or coffee before bed. On those chilly nights, the fireplace on the far wall will certainly cozy-up the large space and make it an even warmer, cozier room.

Do you like taking a bath with a view? Here you have all the views you want. Outside these large windows are nothing but views. While you soak in the over-sized soaking tub, you can take in all the nature your eyes can drink in while you soak your worries away. Double vanities would give the director plenty of his own space to get ready for his day. There is no bumping elbows in this bathroom.

Another spacious room that appears to be a room that could be used or converted to a workout or exercise room. The hardwoods are perfect for an exercise space, along with the mirrored wall that lets you monitor your progress. When you need to catch your breath, there’s the perfect seat for you to rest for a minute, or even kick back with your feet up on the elongated cushion that is situated under yet another grouping of windows with more views.

The kitchen just scream elegance, from beautiful marble counter tops, a large cooking island with elegant chandelier just above, and stainless appliances throughout. The color choices for the kitchen are gold tones, paired with creamy white cabinetry, and the combination give the the kitchen look rich and dreamy. Large windows over the sink allow the optimum amount of light to flow in and cover the entire kitchen.

Once the meal is prepared and ready to serve, take a seat in this stately looking dining room that’s all dressed in rich reds, golds and green tones. The long dining table is situated on top of a gorgeous rectangle area rug, while the elongated window seat across the room adds a a bit of a whimsical feeling, especially having the windows dressed with such rich, elegant ruby draperies.

This room is all about comfort and cozy. It is warm, welcoming, and it can seat a large group of friends and family comfortably with the double sofas, fabric chairs, and casual table and chairs at the far end of the room. Watch TV, enjoy a warm fire, or play some family games, this room is all about comfort. Neutral tones of tans, golds, browns and beige, intertwine with hints of blue and rust in the rug, and all play off the creamy white built-in cabinets perfectly.

Guillermo del Toro may have simple taste, but it’s also traditionally elegant, yet warm and casual at the same time, which can really make guests feel comfortable when they come to visit.
