The actor has recently splashed out $1.8 million on a Silver Lake home for his family, and here is an overview of his new house.

An Overview of the Silver Lake Home

The property purchased by Finn Wittrock was built in 1957, and the same family has lived there ever since. It is located in Silver Lake on Los Angeles’s Eastside. Due to its elevated position in the hills, there are amazing views of the San Gabriel Mountains and the Los Angeles River. This midcentury property has only two bedrooms and two bathrooms, measuring 1,5353-square-feet, and sits on a lot of 0.72 acres. Further space is available in the detached art studio, which has the potential to be used in many other ways. It was Wittrock’s wife, Sarah Roberts, who sealed the deal on the property. The couple was clearly keen to secure this house, as they paid $1.8 million, which was around $362,000 above the listed asking price.

Inside the Midcentury Property

Internally, Wittrock’s new home has a quirky style, with lots of wood décor, vaulted ceilings, and stone features. In the living room, wood covers the ceiling floors and some walls. However, the room’s main feature is the corner fireplace with the stone-covered chimney stack. Behind the living room is one of the two bedrooms, and this has both wood-paneled and concrete block walls. It also has sliding glass doors leading out to the backyard. Unfortunately, the bedroom does not have a private bathroom. To the other side of the living room, there is a narrow kitchen. Over the years, the kitchen has undergone several upgrades, including new countertops.

It also has plenty of storage space, and stainless steel appliances have been added. At the end of the kitchen is a dining area. Like the living room, the kitchen and dining area both have wooden floors and wooden ceilings. There are sliding glass doors next to the dining area that leads to the backyard. Next to the kitchen is the second bedroom. The former owners of the house used this as their master bedroom, although it is smaller than the bedroom by the living room. Although it is described as the master bedroom, there is no ensuite as you would expect from a home with a $1.8 million price tag. However, there is an adjacent full bath. It has a dark wood vanity with two sinks and gray countertops and a bathtub with a shower. There is a further bathroom with a walk-in shower at the far end of the house and a laundry and mudroom area.

The Exterior of Wittrock’s New Residence

Wittrock’s new home is hidden from the street as it sits below street level and is concealed behind a bamboo fence and mature trees. To the front of the property, there is a stone courtyard and a three-car garage for secure off-street parking. Stone steps lead down to the front door. The elevated position of the house and sloping rear garden means the backyard is split over different levels. Directly through the sliding glass doors of the house, there is a large stone patio that runs the full width of the property, says Dirt.com. From the stone patio, there is a wooden balcony on stilts that has a glass panel surround. The balcony feels like a treehouse, as the elevated position means it sits amongst the branches of mature trees that are growing in the lower section of the backyard. The balcony is set up with separate spaces for outdoor lounging and entertaining.

It also has two separate areas for dining, with one out on the balcony in the sunshine and a smaller dining area in the shade on the covered patio. Even a space with a wicker swing chair is set up in the best position for admiring the views, although the views are spectacular no matter where you sit on the balcony. Below the balcony and beyond, the sloped garden is covered in grass and naturally growing plants and is surrounded by mature trees. Although the space is not particularly useful as a garden, it is a space in which Wittrock’s son can have fun playing and exploring. Within the grounds, there is also a detached building that is currently used as an art studio. It has a sloped corrugated metal roof with wooden beams inside. There are windows across the top half of three walls of the structure, which floods the room with light. Although the building is currently set up as an art studio, there are plenty more potential uses for this space. For example, it could become a playroom, a gym, a music room, a home office, or a storage space. As the house only has two bedrooms, one for Wittrock and his wife and the other for their son, it could also make sense to convert the building into guest accommodation.
