It is one room that you want to be calming, serene, warm and inviting, especially because you associate getting rest in your room and rejuvenating yourself for the next day.
One way many people love to create this type of space in their bedroom, is through decorating it in a way that brings them peace and happiness. Color choice is one of the main décor elements of any room your decorate, and the same goes for your bedroom. While many people have a fear of color, especially combinations of color, others find their inner-boldness and let their imaginations do the decorating, which can lead to some pretty interesting color combinations.
If you are bored with your bedroom color scheme and have the itch to take that leap and really give your bedroom a color makeover, you can put together a color combination that will give your room a unique look that shows off your style and taste. Here are a few tips to help you get started on choosing your unique color combination.
Great base colors for bedrooms
If you are still a bit nervous to get too bold and crazy, you can keep things on the more low-keyed side of color choices, while still adding a unique look with the colors you do choose. For an automatic cozy and warm feeling in your bedroom, choose a deep shade of a rich color for your walls, for instance, soft and cool blues, along with soft purples are great base colors for creating a soft, soothing room.
Pairing these with a rich brown or creamy white will give the colors a rich contrast. You may choose to paint all the walls one choice color and the trim in the creamy white, or cover three walls in one color, and paint one wall a secondary color to create a focal wall. Frequently the wall behind the bed is set apart in a different color as the focal point wall, however, any wall that stands out in the room can be used.
Add color using accent pieces
With your walls painted your primary color choice, add accent colors throughout the room by adding splashes of color in fabrics and accent pieces. Throw pillows, lamps, area rugs, window treatments and throws, are all great ways to interject other colors into the room to give the room a more unique color variation. Spurts of rich yellows, black, red, pink or other colors can help break up the primary and secondary colors to give your room some flair.
