Tech Billionaire Buys $31 Million Montecito Estate
Tech tycoon Craig Ramsey co-founded the mobile and communications software company Vlocity along with Mark Armenante and Young Sohn. The trio sold their company to Salesforce back in 2019 for a staggering $1.3 billion. Although Ramsey was already a wealthy man, the sale of Vlocity enhanced his bank account further and moved him up several rich lists. Following the company’s sale, both of Ramsey/s business partners bought luxurious new homes in Montecito, which is an area of California that is popular with the rich and famous. Now, Ramsey has decided he also wants to live in Montecito and has recently paid $1.3 million on a sizeable estate close to Butterfly Beach. Here is an overview of his purchase and a look at the businessman’s new home’s interior and grounds.
Craig Ramsey’s Real Estate Portfolio
Ramsey’s new property in Montecito is only the latest addition to Craig Ramsey’s real estate portfolio. The tycoon is known for his love of trophy real estate, and he has a penchant for oceanfront properties. One of Ramsey’s most substantial and impressive estates was a seaside mansion in Maui, Hawaii. Ramsey put the estate up for sale in 2018 for a staggering $49 million, which was a record asking price on the island at that time. Earlier in 2021, the property sold to WAX cofounder Jonathan Yantis for a heavily discounted $24 million. In 2019, Ramsey completed the construction of a $30 million estate in Los Cabos, Mexico. The interior of the house was decorated in vivid colors that are typical of Mexican homes, and it was photographed for the Wall Street Journal. Another of Ramsey’s current properties is a sprawling mansion in Santa Rosa.
An Overview of Craig Ramsey’s New Estate
The estate in Montecito was originally listed for $32 million, although Ramsey paid a little under the asking price and bought the property for $31.3 million. It is reported that the businessman paid for his real estate purchase in cash and signed the deeds of the property over to his new wife, Kelly Dove, later the same day. English financier Lyndon Lea had the property custom built in 2008. It sits opposite Butterfly Beach, and it is within walking distance of Coast Village Road in downtown Montecito where there are upscale restaurants and trendy shops. The 7,400-square feet mansion sits in 1.1-acres of grounds, along with several other structures. In the main house, there are five bedrooms and nine bathrooms.
Inside the Montecito Mansion
Bali-style décor runs throughout the 7,400-square-foot interior of the Montecito mansion, including white walls, wooden floors, and oil-rubbed wood ceilings. There is also name-brand art mounted on the walls in most of the mansion’s rooms, which add a splash of color against the white backdrop. Another feature that runs throughout the property is numerous glass pocket doors leading to the patio and giving Ramsey the benefit of ocean views from inside the house. The great room on the property’s main level is zoned with sections for the living room, a dining area, and a kitchen. In the living room area, there is a vaulted wooden ceiling and a large fireplace. Sitting between the living room and kitchen is the dining area, which currently houses a 12-seater dining area, and double doors are leading out to the patio. A partial wall separates the formal dining area from the modern kitchen, which has wooden cabinetry and black countertops. An island to the center of the kitchen has a gas range and a second sink. The kitchen has doors leading out to an outdoor dining area on the terrace. here There are several other living spaces on the property that are separate from the main living area. One of the living rooms has a curved staircase leading to the property’s upper floor, while another is a sunroom-style lounge area with floor-to-ceiling windows on three walls. In the main house, there are four double bedrooms, each of which has an ensuite bathroom. Each of the bathrooms features inlaid teak and Egyptian coral stone.
The Grounds of the Estate
Ramsey’s home sits on a lot measuring 1.13-acres. One of the most notable features of the grounds is the views, as there are unobstructed views of Channel Island and the Pacific Ocean. Most of the property and grounds are surrounded by mature trees, white walls, and a flowering hedge. The house is accessed by a gated driveway that leads to a paved motor court at the front of the property. Not only is there sufficient space on the motor court to park several vehicles, but there is also an attached three-vehicle garage for further secure parking. Unusually, most of the grounds are to the rear of the property rather than to the rear of the house. The grounds consist of various terraces, outdoor living spaces, pathways, lawns, and tropical landscaping. Additionally, there is a firepit and two outdoor BBQ centers. One of the most impressive features in the garden is the 55-foot infinity-edged swimming pool with an in-built spa. The pool is lined on one side by a wide patio for lounging, and there are further seating areas at either end of the pool. Within the grounds, there are three additional structures. The first of these is a cabana that would make the ideal home office, and it has its own full bathroom. Second, there is a structure housing a gym that sits opposite the main house. Finally, there are separate guest quarters with a private entrance, says Dirt.com. A further outdoor space at the property is a rooftop terrace, which is one of the best spots to appreciate the ocean views. The rooftop terrace has furniture arranged around a firepit, and glass walls line the terrace, so the views are unspoiled.
