Alexa Mateen Pays $16 Billion for Beverley Hills Estate
Alexa Mateen Abdi has become an extremely rich woman, thanks to her successful career as a tech executive and founding her own business as a fashion designer. The businesswoman was one of the founding staff members of the dating app Tinder, and her role was the Head of U.S. Expansion. The dating app, which is reportedly worth $10 billion, was co-founded by Abdi’s brother, Justin Mateen, and their long-time family friend Sean Rad. Despite the success of Tinder, Alexa Mateen Abdi decided she wanted to branch out and pursue her own interests, so she became a fashion designer. Mateen launched her own accessories brand called LALA LEXA. The success of her company has put Abdi in a position to splash out on an impressive new home in Beverly Hills, for which she and her husband, real estate developer Pouya Abdi, have paid a whopping $16 million. As both the Abdis were born to Iranian parents and raised in Beverly Hills, they are not moving far from where they grew up. Here is a look at Abdi’s property.
An Overview of Alexa Mateen Abdi’s Purchase
Abdi has bought her new Beverley Hills home from Academy Award-winning producer Tom Rosenberg, who is known for films such as ‘Million Dollar Baby,’ ‘She’s the Man,’ ‘The Ugly Truth,’ and ‘Adrift.’ The property, which is located on Sunset Boulevard, was custom-built for Rosenberg in 2015. When he bought the lot for $8 million in 2011, a mid-century modern home sat on the site, which famous architect Arthur Froelich designed. It boasted views across the neighboring Los Angeles Country Club golf course, and its features included walls of glass and stone fireplaces. Although there was nothing wrong with the house, it was not to Rosenberg’s taste, so he had the original house demolished and replaced it with a traditional mansion with a symmetrical design. The almost 8,000-square-feet mansion sits on a lot of 1.03-acres, and it boasts five bedrooms and seven bathrooms. Rosenberg first listed the house in February 2021 with a staggering price tag of $25 million. Unfortunately, the property had no takers, and it was delisted after just one month. However, records show that the property has now been sold to Alexa Mateen Abdi. Sadly for Rosenberg, the couple was unwilling to pay his original asking price and secured the deal for a heavily discounted price of $16 million. While this is probably a huge disappointment for Rosenberg, it is a fantastic deal for Alexa Mateen Abdi and her husband, as they saved around 36 percent on the asking price.
Inside the Sunset Boulevard Mansion
Once inside the Sunset Boulevard Mansion, it is hard to believe that the property was only constructed in 2015, as it has the traditional features you would expect to see in period properties. There are high ceilings, white walls, wooden floors, paneled windows, and ceilings with coving and cornicing. In the formal living room, there is a stark and minimalist feel, thanks to the white walls, white furniture, and light rug. There is a stone fireplace to one end of the room, and paneled windows almost entirely fill one wall. Sitting in one corner of the room is a baby grand piano. In addition to the formal living room, there is also a fireplace-equipped family room, which offers a less formal space for lounging. It features shelving and cupboards built into the fireplace’s alcoves, into which the television is set along with books and knick-knacks on display.
The formal dining room is in keeping with the traditional style of this property, and it has the same minimalist feel as the other public spaces. It houses a 12-seat dining suite, above which there is a chandelier hanging. French doors lead from the dining room to the rear garden. There are five bedrooms in this property, including a sumptuous master suite. The master bedroom has white walls just like the rest of the property, although the cream-colored carpet differs from the rest of the house, which has wooden flooring. From the master suite, there are views over the rear garden. The master suite has its own ensuite bathroom, which, unusually, has hardwood floors. In addition, it boasts dual vanities, each with its own sink, mirror, and lighting. The ensuite also has a deep soaking tub that will be perfect for Abdi to relax after a hard day running her business.
The Exterior of Alexa Mateen Abdi’s Stunning New Home
Although walls and gates surround the grounds, there are also two layers of ficus hedges and trees lining the inner confines of the walls. The height of the hedges and trees completely blocks out any view of the property from the street or neighboring homes, so the grounds are completely private. From the street, gates open to a short driveway that leads to a large, paved motor court to the front of the house, where there are steps up to the pillar-framed, pale blue front door. The rest of the grounds are to the mansion’s rear. Extending from the rear of the house is a paved loggia that is supported by six pillars. While one half of the loggia is set up as an outdoor lounging area, the other half has a dining suite for alfresco dining and entertaining. The loggia is dotted with potted shrubs in a rather formal manner. Steps lead down from the loggia to a sweeping artificial lawn, which is ideal for California’s hot climate and is a low-maintenance option. The lawn leads to a large, rectangular swimming pool that stretches across the full width of the garden. It is unusual for a property within this price bracket not to have either a sports court or a tennis court. However, the original listing did not that there is ample space in the rear garden to create a tennis court, says Dirt.com.
