Former NBA star, Shaquille O’Neal’s spectacular SoCal home sits on 1 acre in the gated community of Bell Canyon, approximately 35 miles outside of Los Angeles. The Sprawling 5,217 sq. ft. contemporary styled home was built in 1990 and purchased by O’Neal for $1,815,00 in 2018. Since he purchased the home, he’s made a number of improvements and upgrades. According to, Realtor, he’s updated the plumbing, installed a new HVAC unit, and updated the garage door. He’s also improved many of the indoor decor elements, like new carpets throughout, new custom closets, and the inside got fresh new paint. The five-bedroom, 4 1/2 bathroom home was designed as an open floor plan. The spacious rooms flow with ease, each one as beautiful and eloquent as the next. And if you’re looking for luxurious architectural and decor details, it’s got all of that, too. Shortly after O’Neal purchased the home and finished the remodel, he surprised some, by listing the home for $2.5M, and cause speculation he may have purchased it as a “flip” project. Foyer

The two-story foyer is stunning and uniquely designed with its rounded walls and curved second-story banister.  NBC News describes the black and white decor theme, and it’s eye-catching. White marble flooring, white walls and white ceiling off-set the black staircase and railing, and hints of black in the decor items used throughout the room, such as the black entry table with glass table-top, and the circular glass and black table set in the middle of the room.

Kitchen

The beautifully designed chef’s kitchen boasts double stainless steel ovens, marble counter tops, marble flooring, and elongated island with ample storage and sink plus modernly designed bar-style stools for a casual meal at the bar. Gray and white subway tiles makeup the stylish backsplash behind the stove and range hood. You’ve gotta love the white cabinetry with steel hardware! A beautiful breakfast nook sits at the far end of the room where you get to eat with a view.

Breakfast nook

You can’t help but love the quaint breakfast nook with the stylish dinette set and stunning spiral crystal chandelier hanging above. This room with a view allows you to eat while overlooking the landscape and with all the natural light, it really makes the white marble tile shine.

Family room

The cozy family room is just off the kitchen and the use of browns and natural tones, from the sofas to the contemporary designed area rug, really make the room warm and cozy, especially with the electric fireplace going to warm the room. The large flat screen above the mantle will bring any game to life, making it the perfect place to relax and catch a game or two with family or friends.

Formal living room

The vaulted ceiling with black wood beams are an elegant and spectacular touch for the formal living room that is outfitted in white and hints of red and black. A plush white sofa sits facing large picture windows that overlook more landscape, and two white over-sized chairs. A beautiful modern glass coffee table separates the seating area, and a colorful piece of wall hanging artwork ties the colors in marvelously.

Formal dining room

Open and spacious, the formal dining room is casual yet elegant with the marble flooring and use of dark, rich tones in the area rug and wall art. A long, rectangle dining room sits in the center of the room and is lit with yet another spectacular crystal chandelier. The mix of dining chair patterns gives the dining set character and the colors are all paired well with the rug beneath.

Office

Who wouldn’t be inspired to get a little work done in this spacious office that sits off the foyer? The two large windows let in tons of natural light and give you scenic views of the landscape outside. The glass desk and plush leather office chair face a wall with a beautiful white built-in bookshelf unit that dons another large, flat screen so the Shaq won’t miss a game, even when he’s got a little paperwork to do. The use of neutral colors, from the walls to the dark wood floors and plush area rug make the office feel warm and inviting.

Master bedroom

On the second floor is where you’ll find the spacious master bedroom that boasts high, vaulted ceilings, neutral colored carpet and neutral colored walls. The room is warm and cozy with the decor theme alone, but on those chilly nights, you can really warm things up by lighting the fireplace that’s just opposite of the bed and side tables. There’s plenty of natural light in this room with the multiple large windows and door that opens up onto a balcony.

Master bath

The over-sized master bathroom is wide open and has a large soaking tub for two, and a walk-in glass, dual rain shower. Gorgeous stained glass windows over the tub allow for both light, and privacy, and if you want to catch the NBA game going on while in the shower, you can with the big wall-hanging flat screen hanging adjacent to the tub. Light, neutral colored tiles are used throughout the entire bathroom, making the spacious bathroom, feel even lighter and brighter.

Pool

After a long day of work at the station, this is the perfect place to relax with friends and family, or even just alone. The rock-rimmed pool is heated and includes a spa at one end. The pool and patio is just off the kitchen which makes it convenient to host a little gathering for a swim and BBQ or soak in the warm spa and gathering around a warm fire pit on chillier nights.
