Disney CEO Buys $12.5 Million Westlake Village Estate
Bob Chapek is a media executive and businessman who has been the CEO of The Walt Disney Company since February 2020. Prior to achieving this position, he worked for the company for 26 years and began his career with Disney in the Home Entertainment division. Chapek is married to Cindy, with whom he has three grown-up children and four grandchildren, and the couple is based in Los Angeles. They have recently sold their home in Westlake Village to purchase another property in the same gated enclave.
Bob Chapek’s Property Purchase
Since 2019, Chapek and his wife have lived in a Mediterranean-style villa in a gated enclave in Westlake Village. They paid $5.3 million for the property, plus monthly HOA fees of $650 to cover security for the community and maintenance of the adjoining golf course. The Chapeks have now listed the property for just under $7.5 million, so they stand to make a sizeable profit if it sells for the asking price. His former home is a Tuscan-style mansion that was built in 2001. The property measures 9,000-square-feet internally, and it sits on a plot of 1.4-acres of landscaped grounds. It boasts seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, an infinity pool, and a poolside guest house.
The neighborhood is also home to many celebrities and wealthy businesspeople. Some of the famous residents of Westlake Village include Heather Locklear, Trisha Paytas, Cooper Kupp, and WWE star The Miz. Chapek is not leaving these neighbors too far behind, as his new property is within the same community. However, he hasn’t simply moved down the street, as his new home is a significant upgrade on the last in terms of both internal and external space. His new home, for which he has paid $12.5 million, is a contemporary-style mansion set in an elevated position on a promontory. The estate comprises a 9,895-square-feet mansion with six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms set in sprawling grounds covering 6.02 acres. It was custom-built in 2013 for Ephrem Nehme, a local produce market owner.
Inside the Westlake Village Mansion
A huge foyer leads through to a step-down living room with white walls and tiled floors. The room’s best feature is the motorized pocket glass doors that lead out to the back garden. Further living space is available in the media/ family room, which has similar décor to the main living room. From the family rooms, double doors are leading out to the loggia. The formal dining room has two stunning crystal chandeliers, and it is expansive enough to seat 16 diners for a dinner party. It is connected to the property’s kitchen, which has a combination of plain wooden cabinetry around the edge of the room, and white cabinetry under the kitchen island in the center of the room. The spacious kitchen is fitted with high-end appliances, and it interconnects to several other living spaces. Part of the kitchen has a vaulted ceiling, but most of the kitchen has a high, white ceiling with spotlights.
A breakfast room and a further living space are also connected to the kitchen, and these rooms have wooden flooring, unusual wooden paneling on the walls, and vaulted ceilings. Both rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and doors leading to the gardens. The layout of this part of the house gives Chapek the option to have all the family in the same area of the house while food is being prepared. There are several more rooms on that provide additional leisure space for Chapek and his family, says Dirt.com. These include a mirror-walled gym, a cozy skylit library, and an onyx-topped wet bar just off the kitchen. As this is a single-story property, all six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms are on the same level as the living spaces. The master retreat is larger than the homes of many people and boasts a private sitting room. It also has a showroom-style walk-in closet with contemporary wood-paneled walls and a luxurious ensuite bathroom with marble finishings. There are French doors opening out from the bedroom onto one of the property’s patios from where Chapek can enjoy views of the surrounding hills.
The Grounds of the Estate
Double gates are opening out onto a long drive to the front of the property, and the driveway leads to a motor court. The expansive motor court has space to park more than 15 vehicles, plus further parking in a five-car attached garage. Therefore, there is plenty of parking available if Chapek decides to host a party. To the side of the motor court, there is a circular paved area with stone benches and a water feature that is surrounded by a manicured hedge, where Chapek can sit and enjoy the views from the front of the property. Leading to the front door is a bridge crossing over a reflecting pool. Most of the 6.04-acres of grounds are to the rear and sides of the property, and there are stunning views of the surrounding hills from wherever you stand. Lining the back of the house are various covered terraces and a loggia with a fireplace, a television, and an outdoor kitchen with marble countertops. These are spaces where Chapek can relax, dine alfresco or entertain friends and family.
A paved area with a firepit connects the terraced areas to a large, rectangular swimming pool with a separate spa. A terraced area next to the pool is set up for poolside lounging. Next to the pool is a koi pond with a waterfall feature. Beyond the pond, there are manicured lawns and hedges. There is also a two-bedroom guest house that has its own sitting room and is connected to the main house with a breezeway within the grounds. It will allow Chapek and his wife to maintain their privacy when having friends and family over to stay.
