20 Living Room Designs with Brick Walls

Brick walls aren’t something you traditionally see just on the outside of a building, but they are becoming common place to see as an interior design, and living rooms are the common place you might find a brick wall. Living rooms are the gathering place in the house. You gather to visit, entertain, watch television, read and just relax. Home owners want the living room to be inviting to family and friends, and one way to achieve a warm and cozy atmosphere is to incorporate a brick wall in the room. It may not sound like a brick wall would be a warm and cozy décor scheme, however, the right choice of brick and you can create a whole new look and feel to the room that adds character and an interesting focal point.

There are endless options and choices for using brick in your living room. Colors, sizes and finished or distressed, all create different looks and feels in a living room. From shabby chic to industrial, even just one brick wall can easily adapt to your décor theme you’ve already chosen. Here are some different ideas on how you can incorporate a brick wall into your living room.

Choose your brick size and color

Depending on the size of the wall you want to brick, you can choose from an array of different-sized bricks to fit the wall. Smaller walls might look better with smaller bricks or a large wall, better with larger bricks. Even so, anything can go and smaller bricks on a large wall can create the illusion of a larger wall space.

The color of your brick can set the tone for the room.

  • Classic red brick can feel very cozy and can be a great lead from the living room into a classic study or library.
  • White bricks give a room a bigger feel and appearance. They are great for shabby chic décor themes, or artsy looks with a modern touch.
  • Gray or dark gray bricks are sleek, masculine, and can feel almost industrial in nature, especially when incorporated with the right textures.
  • Mixing colors, such as offsetting red bricks with white, gives a more traditional look and appeal.
  • Brown and/or tan bricks are great for a rustic theme in the room and really make a room feel cozy and homey.
  • Distressed bricks can stand alone and don’t need to be painted to create a unique look all on their own. They add a lot of character on their own without needing any work.

Add details

However you want to decorate the room, some ideas for your brick wall could include displaying your wall using LED lights to show it off. To add to the focal point of the room, your beautiful brick wall, try using the wall for where your TV will be. Since most people focus on the television set in the room, take care of two birds and put the two together. Adding artwork, bookshelves, other lighting options among other décor you choose, will really help to highlight your brick wall.
