Melissa Curtin is a Los Angeles based writer who left her childhood hometown in Connecticut and a decade in Washington, DC to drive across country with a dream, to live an exciting, interesting life. Almost ten years later, Los Angles has exceeded her wildest expectations. Melissa is the Founder of LaLaScoop, an online hub that shares the beauty and vibrancy of Los Angeles through a plethora of reviews of the City of Angel’s hottest trends, places, products, and people. As an educator and travel writer, her passion for globe trotting and learning about new cultures was fueled when she traveled around the world at age 20 on Semester at Sea. At an early age, her curiosity led her to live with the Apache Indians, volunteer in the projects, and help children learn in St. John, USVI. In 2004 she earned a Fulbright scholarship that allowed her to teach in England and explore Europe. Her desire for exploration hasn’t subsided as she truly feels, “To travel is to live.” Her favorite memories include solo travel and destinations like Myanmar, Thailand, Formentera Island off of Ibiza, Loreto (Mexico), Costa Rica, Krakow, Greece, Australia, Sicily, Italy, Paris, Prague, Belgium, Vietnam, and Morocco. Since 2012 she has been documenting her adventures in print and online. Her tips and tales can be found on JohnnyJet.com, Business Insider, Darling Magazine, LA Travel Magazine, Resident Magazine, WeSaidGoTravel.com, and more. When she is home, she enjoys basking in Malibu sunsets, mixing up her workouts with Class Pass, reviewing the latest restaurants, and hiking with her love.
