The Spa House Offers Underwater Experiences

In Hout Bay, Cape Town, South Africa, the Spa House by Metropolis Design stands proudly among the green landscape as the only modern element of the place. It’s not the architecture that compliments the surroundings (although it’s beautiful), but it’s the other way around.

The Spa House is a place for relaxation, an extension of the main house to which is connected through foot paths. Living spaces, underwater spa facilities with large windows to the pool, underwater dining room, relaxing rooms, a guest accommodation block are just a few of the things meant to make the client and his guests comfortable.

It is obvious that water plays an important part in here. Besides the underwater rooms, the swimming pool looks like a sea of water, with wood decks as islands, connected by a bridge. Some of the decks continue to the open living room, as a simple transition between the outdoor and indoor plans.
