The Walensee House was designed by K_M Architektur and is located near Lake Walensee in Switzerland. With it’s simple, non intrusive wooden design the house fits well into the the landscape and with this amazing lake view I bet it’s a pleasure to live in. The two-story wood and metal home was designed with other natural materials, like glass and concrete, and it sits poised against a beautiful sloping meadow that overlooks Lake Walenesee, with a loggia that encircles the building on the front, water side.
What the family home was designed to do, was to give the dwellers a non-obtrusive views of the lake and countryside with the panoramic windows and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that allow for the beauty of the environment around it, to flow inside. The backside of the home is more closed with fewer windows and more wood.
When you view photos of the inside of the home, you see that it is an open floor plan with spacious rooms, from the living room, to the dining area, and kitchen. The design is very contemporary, from inside out. It was built in 2007 and not only looks great against the mineral water of the lake that it overlooks, but it is nearly as majestic as the Churfürsten mountain range that it faces.
If you are wondering…yes, it is an energy efficient home. It was designed with rooftop photovoltaic panels along with a stove in the living room, both of which are used to produce the majority of the energy for the home.
