Additional review: I believe I wrote the original review in summer of 2017. It is August, 2019 now. I currently have 3 of these feeders. This summer one of the feeders has begun to develop rust in the tray. Additionally, I think somehow it is leaking. Perhaps the rust got so bad there is a weak spot I can’t see. IDK. At any rate, I have taken it down and have ordered another to replace it. I read Theatre Popcorn’s review with interest. I also believe if you take care of the feeder it will be just great. The hummers love our feeders and we have quite a few birds this summer. Have never seen any dead ones as one reviewer described. I take care to clean only with vinegar and hot water, not even soap. I also dry them before refilling and assembling. I clean and refill them every 10-14 days, depending on level of activity. Some weeks I’ve had to refill sooner because all the nectar was gone! The other two feeders are fine, no rust or paint peeling.
Update 8/2021:
The bottom that holds the syrup is powder coated, not galvanized. The ring that holds the flowers is galvanized, but it isn't leaching into the syrup. We still are running about 6 quarts per day through 4 active feeders. We bought 5 more of these feeders. The local Rural King sold a batch for less than $10 each so I bought them all. We swap the active feeders out weekly. 5 or 6 cups of sugar to a gallon of water is their rocket fuel. They eat tons of bugs for their vitamins. Fuel can be any color or even clear. They will drain the older rusty feeders with paint peeled off the flowers as quickly as the shiny new ones. Most important is not letting hummers starve with all feeders empty. When we can't refill in a timely fashion we have to put out additional feeders to keep our birds fed.
After three years the problems are that the bale is too short to hang on a hook, and the ant traps that Perky pets makes have to be replaced every year. The hooks on the ant trap get brittle (UV) and can drop the heavy feeder in a storm. If the pop rivet on the bottom gets loose a hammer and punch will tighten it up and stop the leak. .
These feeders are for people who want to adopt hummers for the summer. If you feed them they rely on the food and will gather and reproduce to use up the available food. With these feeders we have seen less fighting and more reproduction. If you suddenly stop feeding your colony of birds they will seek other sources. These are by far the most hygenic feeders we have had in 30 years of hummers.
For those complaining about the galvanized finish, thinking it might alter the flavor of the nectar or harm...... Ummmmmm, the interior of the galvanized feeder base has an applied coating, so the galvanized complaint doesn’t make any sense at all!! - again, “it has an applied coating”. Our nesting hummers have several offspring annually - no ill effects.
My Favorite Combination Opinion: I use the Birds Choice Red 13" Acrylic Weather Guard with both of my older blue/clear mason jar feeders. In my opinion it's the Perfect Combination!! Hummingbirds like hanging out under the transparent red canopy and I feel that it adds a layer of general weather protection for the feeders and nectar within.
Anyway, I obviously can't say enough about this feeder and I've purchased and trashed SEVERAL different styles and brands over the years. Stop buying and rebuying junk! Get this one and IF you don't break the glass during winter storage, it will last for years!! Well, at least mine have AND so have my neighbors!!!

Avec le temps, la base fini par rouiller. Dommage qu’elle ne soit pas en inox...
At first the birds stayed away so my husband painted the bright metal top yellow with a non-toxic paint. Yellow because it was the color we happened to have in the house.
And the birds came.
The glass mason jar is quite attractive and the feeder is very easy to clean.
