Luxurious And Imposing: Monsoon Retreat By Abraham John Architects

The Bombay-based firm of architecture Abraham John Architects has completed the Monsoon Retreat project in 2013. The residence is located in Khandala, Maharashtra, India, and brings together the kind of opulence and luxury which I’ve previously seen before, when admiring some other gorgeous Indian pieces of architecture.

The residence is certainly not the kind of home that you pass by without noticing, due to its imposing appearance. It consists in five bedrooms, each of them having a private bathroom, living and dining spaces, a well-equipped kitchen, a staff room and a powder room. The home opens itself towards the beautiful surrounding greenery and blends in nicely with it through its own in-doors plants. It was designed with sustainability in mind, so the chosen materials are natural, the sliding doors are double-glazed for reducing solar radiation and the need for air conditioning. LED lights are used for cutting down the electrical consumption. The living spaces are defined by an open-plan design and impress with their warm appearance which is embellished with luxury and elegance.
