Casa REX is an important Brazilian design office, so when a change was needed, FGMF Arquitetos were the ones called to do their miracles. A new identity and a new physical space for the office were the requests, so a former residence in Pacaembu dating from 1940’s was chosen.
The clients have access to the reception, meeting area and a place where they can see the office’s projects exhibited. As reception is the first thing that one sees by getting inside, this is the eye-catching element. Walkways among gravel floors, with walls having a demolished look are unexpected and quite pleasant for the eyes.
Being under a strict budget, the architects had to come up with brilliant ideas. One of them was the façade, piled with stone gabions, creating such a strong visual impact. In the studio’s area, the double-height ceiling offers an illusion of more space, inspiring for work and creativity. It’s the place where gravel and demolitions have stopped, creating a proper work environment.
