20 Mid-Century Modern Design Bedroom Ideas

Whether you grew up in the mid-century era, or you are just a fan of the design, the décor is one that is timeless and ageless. And one that many people love to use in the many rooms of their homes. One of the rooms that the mid-century design works very well for, is the bedroom. There are many different ways in which you can create a warm, inviting and relaxing atmosphere in a bedroom dressed entirely of the mid-century design scheme. While mid-century gives a somewhat, dated, look, it can also incorporate modern details to help blend the old with the new. Mid-century design is a neat, clean, linear design, using simplistic colors, furniture, textures, as well as art and décor pieces. If you love the look of the mid-century style, here are ways you can design your bedroom in the same era for a beautiful bedroom retreat.

Furniture

One of the most popular features in a mid century bedroom is the platform bed, although there are certainly other styles to choose from. Low-to-the-ground, the platform bed is very linear and sleek looking. The simplistic look keeps the room neat and tidy, without too much architectural extras to clutter it. Chairs and sofas are designed with soft curves and are typically solid colors in a number of different materials, including wood and plastic.

Color scheme

The colors of the mid century were deep and rich. A lot of deep greens, dark yellows, reds, oranges, and browns wee used. You can mix and match and create your specific color scheme, however, keep in mind that the color choices on the walls were typically left neutral, while the accent colors were dispersed throughout the room in the furniture, rugs, bedding, window treatments, and art décor pieces.

Flooring

No matter if you love carpet or not, carpet was a big part of this era, but you can still choose to install wood flooring but perhaps give it some flair by adding a large shaggy area rug under the bed or other pieces of material. If shag doesn’t cut it, how about a fun, retro-patterned rug that gives the room a great focal point and something to work with when it comes to adding accents throughout the room?

This is a fun décor to work with. So many colors, design options, and ideas that you can literally make your bedroom as simple or as involved in the mid-century era as you want.
